African American Heritage Museum.  This museum is the culmination of the lifelong dream of Mrs. Mel Pruitt.  Her vision for a home within the community to present African American Heritage artifacts was brought to life in the form of three crossing elephant tusks by JSA.  The building, situated on the site of the first black school in Bryan, features terrazzo floors in the main lobby, three exhibit spaces, a genealogy research room and storage for the many artifacts owned by the museum.  The museum has hosted a joint exhibit with the George Bush Presidential Library.
